I hate labels. They tend to reduce people to mere terms and phrases instead of looking at them as the unique creations that they are.
As bad as they can be, there is something a lot worse…a label maker. A label maker is somebody that tags you with a label and then they refuse to ever see you again as anything other than that label.
Label makers love the feeling of having it all figured out. They like to impress themselves, and others, with their ability to “call it.” They like to look at your life and label you. Whether they are right or wrong makes no real difference. They just like labeling you and being done with it.
I thank God that He always sees us not just as we are but as what we can be as well. He sees our potential and rather than labeling us and leaving us, He steps up and speaks new and greater things over us.
Don’t listen to the label makers in your life. Listen to God and follow Him. As you do, you will truly become more and more like the person He created you to be.
