Lose Some Weight

Pastors, you were never designed or called to carry the entire weight of the church on your shoulders.

A church is far too complex, with too many moving parts, for one man to bear the responsibility of it all.  No man, not even a great man, can carry the weight of a church by himself.

The Lord commands us to cast our cares on Him.

Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail).  Psalm 55:22 (AMP)

Obviously this verse isn’t just for pastors but it certainly is needed by every pastor.

Take a moment this morning and cast your burdens on Him.  Hurl your worries and concerns about finances, volunteers, leaders, facility issues, the next series, that big event, and this weekend’s message on Him.

Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass.  Psalm 37:5 (AMP)

Remember, the church is His bride not yours.  He will take care of all her needs.  We are just called to attend to her at His direction.

Refuse to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders.

Beware of the Label Maker

I hate labels. They tend to reduce people to mere terms and phrases inside of looking at them as the unique creations that they are. As bad as they can be, there is something a lot worse...a label maker.
